These courses can be taken individually or in a package. The emphasis is to provide contractors, trainers, and others with hands on knowledge in conducting comprehensive energy retrofits and to assist the State or other agencies in developing comprehensive training programs for their contractors or training sources. Courses include:
BPI Building Analyst Energy auditor to assess energy efficiency of residential home. BPI certification available.
Advanced Equipment Hands on experience with blower doors, duct leakage testing, combustion safety testing, infrared camera and audit software.
Home Performance Sales and Marketing Instructs contractors and energy auditors how to sell the energy audit to the homeowner.
Field Mentoring Programs designed for trainers, contractors, or auditors who need hands-on field experience.
BPI Envelope Professional Usually taken after the BPI Building Analyst course. Students will learn more about a house as a system. This class gets into much more detail on Thermal Boundaries and Pressure Diagnostics. BPI certification available.
BPI Heating Professional Using a “whole house” performance-based approach, this training will cover advanced heating system diagnostic, evaluation, and repair skills to help you prepare for the Building Performance Institute’s Heating Professional on-line and field exams.
BPI A/C and Heat Pump Professional This course is designed for experienced HVAC contractors. The training, which consists of both classroom and field experience, will help prepare you for the Building Performance Institute’s AC/Heat Pump Professional on-line and field exams.
BPI Residential Building Envelope Whole House Air Leakage Control Installer (RBE-WH-ALC) This training will provide the student with the knowledge of the science behind insulation and air sealing. The student will learn the recommended insulation levels for their climate zone, different types of insulation and where they are most effective. BPI certification available soon.
Contractor Installation The students will learn what performance contracting means. Health and Safety procedures, interpretation on energy audits, building air sealing, insulation types and application.
