Quality Assurance Design

Do you need assistance in defining the design, qualification and implementation of your State Energy Program or Home Performance with Energy Star Program? Let BSES assist you with your program:

Contractor Assessment

BSES can assist you in assessing the current qualifications of your contractors and how you can bring contractors up to speed for these new programs. How qualified are contractors in your region? What will it take to get contractors in your region not only certified but up and running providing comprehensive energy retrofits?

Contractor Qualifications

Do they have Building Performance Institute (BPI) certifications, HERS Raters, Nate or other national certifications? What requirements are necessary for Home Performance with Energy Star or Home Star programs?

Quality Assurance Programs

The Home Star program has stated quality assurance requirements that each State will monitor. Does the State have a system in place or understand how this integrates with BPI Accreditation and Quality Assurance? Based on the quality or experience of your contractors in the region doing comprehensive retrofits do you need any additional quality assurance? Is there an understanding of the quality assurance needed for the various programs, sampling, software and other measures?

Financing

Does the State have multiple sources of financing in place for contractors and homeowners? How can the State help the homeowner with financing? Do the contractors understand the State's financing options or other options available?

Training

BSES has an affiliate company that provides extensive training to contractors, community colleges and state organizations. To implement a State wide program, consistency in training and experts with hands on retrofit experience is critical to gain the confidence of contractors and homeowners. Training must result in more than certification as it has to demonstrate to contractors how to change their business model from the new home industry to the retrofit market. We need to do more than provide our contractors with certification. We have to show them how to be profitable in the retrofit industry and how to get their employees back to work.
